Card For The Day

Playfulness

Our card for the day, Friday, May 17th, is taken from Healing With The Angels Oracle Cards – Playfulness – “Fun and play is the Angel’s way! They guide you to add fun to your life, and to know that fun is a necessity, not a luxury.”

When was the last time you did something just for the fun of it? When was the last time you laughed till your sides hurt? Do you take regular time out for yourself to do something fun or is it only during vacation time?

We are all so busy with our day to day lives, our jobs, our families, our responsibilities and so on that we rarely take time to have fun. Yet having fun is an essential part of taking care of ourselves. What is life without laughter and joy? Without it we live a humdrum existence so caught up in making a living that we have forgotten how to truly live.

Life was never meant to be struggle and strife, it was meant to be carefree and joyful. What happened? Why is it that we have all become so caught up in this rat-race that so many call life? Perhaps it’s because that is what we have been taught from the time we are children, to obey the “rules”, to get an education, and then get a job, get married and have kids, be “normal”, be productive, be an asset to society. We become model citizens and lose ourselves in the process.

Perhaps it’s time to break some of those rules or at least rethink them. Perhaps it’s time to take a “mental health” day now and then and just go have some fun. Go to the park and play with our kids instead of having them enrolled in every extra-curricular activity out there. Even kids have their “playtime” scheduled into their weeks now. What happened to just going outside and using imaginations to build castles and bridges and just be kids having fun?

We put off having fun, or doing something we really want to do until after we finish college, or we retire or the kids are grown and then it’s too late for so many. How many people do we know who worked hard all their lives and died just before or after retirement? I know a few.

So if we learn anything from all of this, it’s to take the time now to have fun, to follow our own bliss or joy and do what makes us happy. Don’t wait for a future time that may never come. The angels are encouraging us to do just that, to be as little children and play. Even Jesus said it in the Bible: Matthew 18:3 And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Look at the world through the eyes of a child with innocence and wonder. Believe in magic and miracles and most of all have fun. Have a great day everyone! ~Namaste~
