Our card for today, Thursday, August 21st, is taken from The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Cards by Colette Baron-Reid – 6 The Grail Knight – Key Words: Romance, illusion, and seeking the sacred.
6 represents: “Don’t worry or obsess about material items, including money. Worry lowers the effectiveness of your prayers. Fortunately, the angels can answer your prayers if you ask them to.” (Angel Numbers 101)
This knight is in search of the Holy Grail but in this case the Holy Grail represents the perfect mate. However no one is perfect. When we first meet someone and we fall in love, in the beginning that person can seem perfect because we are seeing them through the eyes of love. There is that old saying that love is blind and in the beginning it really is, because in the light of our love the other person appears perfect to us.
However this perfection is an illusion and no one can live up to the perfection that we believe we see in our mate. The time will come when the rose colored glasses will come off and we will begin to see the other person for who they really are, including all of their imperfections. That doesn’t mean that they are not perfect for us, it just means that we will now learn to love someone unconditionally for all that they are. When we can do so then we are entering the realm of sacred union.
And don’t forget that this process works in reverse. We too appeared perfect to the other person through the eyes of their love for us. So too will their rose colored glasses come off and they will begin to see us for all that we are as well. They too will learn to love us unconditionally for all that we are.
Many relationships fall apart at this stage because we feel that the other person lied to us or hid their true selves from us. That may not be the case because in the blush of new love, we can only see all the reasons why this person is perfect us. If we can let go of the story book romance with the happy ever after ending and realize that the meeting and falling in love was the easy part, and that now the real work begins, we may have a chance to find real and lasting love.
Can we hold the love we felt for this person in our hearts and look past the mistakes and imperfections to the beautiful soul they really are? Can we accept them as they are and love them in spite of any imperfections that have now come to light? Can they accept us for all of our own imperfections as well? There is a song I really like called “All of Me” by John Legend that speaks to loving someone for all that they are, and these are the lyrics from the chorus:
Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you
We may not find someone who is perfect, but we will find someone who is imperfectly perfect for us.
Have a great day everyone! ~Namaste~
