Our card for today, Wednesday, December 28th, is taken from the Kuan Yin Oracle – Nectar of the Lotus – “The Divine Mother wishes that those who are meant to feed others be well fed too! Your devotion to helping others has the effect of squeezing the cosmic heart chakra of the Divine Mother. From her heart drips nectar, sweet, sustaining, life-affirming energy that feeds you and allows you to nourish many Souls. Like a sacred chalice that overflows, when you are full, well and vital, the feeding of others happens effortlessly. You are guided to be fed now, fed with Divine Nectar from the Heart of the Mother.”
Spirit wants us to know that it is okay for us to take a break once in a while from our service to humanity in order to take care of ourselves. Sometimes our own wellbeing must come first. If we give and give to others without replenishing the well we draw from, there will come a point when we will have nothing left to give to anyone. This is called “burnout” and often appears in our lives as illness or even a mental breakdown. For so many of us, the need to help or give to others is what drives us, we live by the axiom of “it is better to give than to receive”, but without taking time for self-care, we face the possibility of reaching a point where we are too tired to do anything.
So rather than run ourselves ragged trying to meet the needs of others, we need to find a way to replenish our own energy by nurturing ourselves. If we can do this for a short time every day, then we will always have enough to give to those who need us. Some ways we can do this is to take a long bubble bath, or spend time in meditation, or practice yoga or some other form of exercise that keeps us mindful and makes us feel good, or some activity that brings us joy and satisfaction. I’m sure you can think of other things that help you to feel energized and refreshed. When we learn to give to ourselves the things that make us feel good, then we have more to give to others.
We can only go so far being the one to give and give, without thought for ourselves, before we are empty. Take the time you need to replenish your well and you won’t ever have to worry about running out of energy or the desire to be of service. And never feel guilty for taking time to give to yourself, remember you are worth your own time and attention. The better you feel and the happier you are, the more you have to share with the world.
Have a great day everyone! ~Namaste~
