Our card for today, Thursday, June 28th, is taken from the Nature’s Whispers Oracle Cards – Open Your Heart – “The truth of our world, nature and environment is love.”
This is a calling to each of us to open our hearts to the love that we are. As we have seen before, everything is love, no exceptions and no matter what it looks like. For the most part, loving our family and friends is easy, but can we open our hearts to love those who persecute us as well? Jesus came to teach us about love, how to love our Father God, and how to love each other. He didn’t put restrictions on His love, He loved everyone equally whether rich or poor, Jew or Gentile, black or white. He didn’t care about anything else but that every person is a child of God and that was all that mattered to Him. We are being asked to love as He did, as He taught us to do.
However if we are going to open our hearts to love, we first need to love ourselves. We can’t give love to another if we first don’t love ourselves. I like the teachings of Matt Kahn who follows the teachings of Jesus. I just started reading his book “Whatever Arises, Love That: A Love Revolution That Begins With You”. I’m not very far into it yet but I have been following Matt’s teachings for some time through his Youtube videos. Basically he tells us that if we are angry, or sad, or judgmental, it is a cry for us to love ourselves more because of it. One of the things he likes to do is have people repeat after him by simply saying “I love you!” over and over and over again.
So if we can look at our own bad moods and negative feelings as a reason to give ourselves more love not less, then it stands to reason that when someone is being mean to us, or judging us, or causing us pain in any way, it’s also a cry for us to love them more and not less. It’s not easy to do, it’s much easier to love those who are kind to us, who treat us well, but the challenge is to look at those who treat us badly as someone who needs our love more than those who are nice to us. As the saying goes, “hurt people hurt people”, and that in itself tells us that those are the ones who need our love more than anyone else. If we just return hurt for hurt, we are only perpetuating the problem.
This is not to say that we stay in an abusive relationship or let anyone cause us harm, we can still leave a bad situation and send love to that person and pray for them. Actually what better way to show love for someone who has treated us badly than to pray for them, to pray that their hearts open to the love that they are so that they can know the love that God has for them. Everyone on the planet is on a journey to return home to love, and of course not everyone is following the same path as there are many paths that lead home. It is not for us to judge another’s journey or process, our mission is to love everyone no matter what they do or how bad it seems. We are part of the love revolution, and it’s time to open our hearts and let our love flow out to all who need it, so that we can help bring everyone home.
Have a great day everyone! ~Namaste~
